The Cheektowaga Warriors secured the 18u New York State Championship this past weekend. Defeating The Clinton Comets by a score of 5-1!
Coach Miller had this to say when asked about the season,
"last year at 16u we were ranked 2nd in the country heading into the State Championship when Covid shut us down.
This year was an uphill battle to say the least. We appealed once to NYSAHA and once to USA hockey for help with the 14/7 game requirement only to be denied both times.
If not for the support of the entire Cheektowaga organization we wouldn’t have even qualified for the States. In my over 20 plus years of coaching I’ve never worked with someone who truly cares for their organization the way Tony does.
Winning this year State Tournament wouldn’t have been possible without my manager Sam Laduca and assistant coach Greg’ Wicks.
This past weekends State Championship wasn't about a big save or a big goal. It was about an organization, a manager, coaches, parents, and players overcoming obstacles that we hope future teams never have to experience"
Congrats to the boys for making Cheektowaga hockey proud and winning the State Championship!!
